exeter craft festival this weekend

we are going to be at the Exeter Craft Festival this friday & saturday along with about 100 other makers based in Devon. the fair is on the Cathedral Green and has a mix of potters, photographers, jewellers, textile artists, painters, woodworkers amd much more.

we will have a selection of mirrors, clocks, lighting and chopping boards, as well as the new work we showcased at The Contemporary Craft Fair - our new squares mirrors, coasters and japanese plates.

we are stand number 63 - a different place from where we are usually as the whole show has changed position a little this year. we are usually next to the lovely Laurel Keeley too, but she is in a different place this year too.

the show is this friday 2nd july (10am to 6pm) and saturday 3rd july (9.30am to 5pm) and we hope to see you there.

ramp

our friends Roop & Alice (ramp) make the most beautiful pots. those of you who used to read our old blog will remember us featuring their work before, but we wanted to let you know that their new website is now online. we have a few pieces of their work but everytime we see them at a show we always fall in love with something new. Their newest work is a collection of porcelain pieces which includes mugs, small bowls, little jugs and boxes with little oak lids.
we saw Roop & Al the other weekend at The Contemporary Craft Fair and their stand looked beautiful as always - we love the large bowls and platters they make, beautiful elegant shapes with deep blues and delicate markings inspired by nature.

our garden {part 2}

a little later than anticipated, but here is the 2nd little glimpse into our garden. it's come on a long way since {part 1}. we have had such beautiful weather over the last few weeks and planted lots more flowers so it's looking lovely. I think we must have lots and lots of friendly insects because we don't seem to be having any problems (even the slugs don't seem to be doing too much damage). We grow everything organically so pest control to us is planting flowers and herbs to encourage beneficial insects.

1. buttercups, spinach, mixed salad leaves (rocket, red giant mustard, green wave mustard & mizuna kyoto), mange tout
2. bordeaux spinach
3. bordeaux spinach and desiree potatoes
4. mixed salad leaves and edible flowers
5. lettuces (red & green salad bowl, paris island cos, ice queen, lollo rosso, lollo bionda & corn salad) and cavolo, calabrese & tagetes

we still have more to do on our garden, lots more to plant and lots more to show you, so there will be a {part 3} coming soon.

adele brereton

we really loved seeing Adele Brereton's jewellery & vessels at The Contemporary Craft Fair the other weekend. Beautiful organic shapes made from silver, wood, gold and oxidised silver & copper. Her collection includes rings, earrings, brooches, necklaces, bowls and vessels.

"My work is inspired by drawings made from nature, ancient artifacts or found objects, looking at shapes, materials and textures and translating these drawings into three dimensional ideas. Much of the designing takes place during the making process, developing and evolving as the pieces take shape".

pachadesign open studio this weekend

we are opening our studio this friday, saturday & sunday (18th, 19th & 20th) as part of Art Trek - hope you can all come along to see us! there will be signs all the way to our studio from the A39 .... if you are driving to us, don't be put off by the lane down from The Old Smithy Inn & the pottery - it looks quite narrow but it's fine (and the same goes for our driveway ..... there is plenty of parking and turning space). we are about 250yards from the pub, so you could always make a day of it and have lunch at The Old Smithy (they serve great food) as well as visiting us and then the beach at Welcombe Mouth too. click {here} to find Welcombe on multimap.

we will be selling a range of our furniture & accessories: oak chopping boards from £5, leaf lanterns at £12.50 and our new reclaimed cornish slate coasters & japanese plates. oak & slate lamps and a selection of clocks, our new squares mirrors where you can design your own configuration to suit your space (or we can design one for you) and our low tea table and off-set console. we will have a selection of our reclaimed cornish slate mirrors from £30 and some oak tea-light blocks too.
we usually have a few seconds & some old stock at discounted prices too.

the forecast says sunshine and Welcombe is especially beautiful in the sunshine, so we hope to see you over the weekend! if you want to contact us about the studio click {here} and to see what other studios are open across North Devon as part of Art Trek click {here}.

thankyou

thankyou to everyone that came to see us at The Contemporary Craft Fair - it was really nice to catch up with everyone and we met some lovely new people too. we had a good show and had some really lovely comments about the new pieces.

we showcased our new mirror idea and had such a good response. taking up the whole back wall of our stand, we made a huge configuration of squares of slate & squares of mirror. the idea is that each square can be bought seperately and you can make your own configuration to suit your space or we can design one for you. we'll be putting the new mirror on our website soon.

we decided to have our stand white this year (our pieces seems to work well on white but also on very dark backgrounds like black too) and we had lots of little hanging plants in clear baubles which looked perfect with the materials we use for our furniture & accessories.

our oak & slate lamps were really popular this year and also our new coasters & japanese plates - made from little squares and rectangles of the reclaimed cornish slate we use & protected with an eco food safe sealant, they can be used to serve sushi on or simply as little stands for tea bowls. we sold out completely of all the sets we had made! we will be making more and hopefully in time for our open studio this friday, saturday & sunday (details in the next post) and they will be on our website soon too.

we had so many lovely comments about our stand and our work, especially about the new mirror and the two pieces of furniture we had - our low tea table and our off-set console, both made from reclaimed oak & black powder-coated steel.

thankyou again to everyone that visited us and if you missed the show or want to see our work again, we have an open studio here in Welcombe this weekend and then we will have a stand at the Exeter Craft Festival on friday 2nd july & saturday 3rd july - details about both events in the next post and {here}.
