tomorrow at the cabin

our exhibition at the bucks mills cabin opens again tomorrow for another 3 days only. we hope you can come along - the exhibition will be open 11am - 3pm friday, saturday & sunday. we have really enjoyed putting together this exhibition with the National Trust and we were delighted that designer makers RAMP and Sam Pickard wanted to get involved with the project too.
we have all been so inspired by this tiny little cabin that artists Judith Ackland & Mary Stella Edwards once owned and lived in and it's been a real privilege to be able to spend time there and to put our own modern day interpretations in amongst their personal belongings for our exhibition.

we've had lovely compliments about the exhibition and some nice press too.
thanks so much to Emile for the piece he did on his blog Treasure Hunt, National Trust Collections {here}. thanks also to Sarah & Katie from madebyhandonline for putting it on their what's on pages {here} and to everyone that has blogged or tweeted about our exhibition.

the bucks mills cabin: a modern take

in conjunction with the National Trust, Devon based designer makers pachadesign, Sam Pickard & RAMP explore a modern take on the everyday objects left inside the artists cabin at Bucks Mills, a picturesque village on the North Devon Coast.

the cabin was owned by artists Judith Ackland & Mary Stella Edwards and is an evocative time capsule of their lives together - left today as it was in the 70's and now owned & carefully preserved by the National Trust.

this new group of artists will select some of the simple, everyday objects that Judith & Mary owned & used whilst living there and replace them with their own modern day interpretations.
{pachadesign: furniture & accessories, RAMP: ceramics, Sam Pickard: textiles}.

Hannah Jefferson from the National Trust says "The project with pachadesign, Sam Pickard & RAMP is a great way to bring the cabin to life in 2011. Involving local artists who are inspired by the same coastline as Judith & Mary, a modern take exhibition is the perfect opportunity to open the doors of the cabin to the general public, and get people talking about contemporary craft & design, in a setting which is lost in a different era".

the exhibition is open 15th - 17th & 22nd - 24th july 2011 {11am - 3pm daily}.
free entry & free parking at the top of Bucks Mills village, which lies on the North Devon Coast between Clovelly & Bideford.
