we're looking forward to buying our copy of sibella court's latest book, bowerbird.
we loved her other books, nomad and etcetera, full of beautiful images taken by sibella's brother, photographer chris court, so I'm sure we will love this book too.

a favourite on our bookshelf at the moment is the stunning new book interiors by martyn thompson.

we have admired his photography for a while now, from the books he has worked on with ilse crawford - sensual home and home is where the heart is.

looking forward to seeing a copy of this book - woodcut by bryan nash gill.

we think his work is beautiful, especially the use of bronze in some of his sculptures.

the natural home

we thought we'd show you some beautiful photo's today from stylist hans blomquist and photographer debi treloar. we are looking forward to buying their new book soon, the natural home {published by ryland peters & small and available from the 5th april}.

noma + ditte isager

we always have books on our xmas wish lists and this year noma is one of them. noma: time & place in nordic cuisine is a collection of over 90 recipes created by chef rené redzepi with some beautiful photographs by ditte isager, one of our favourite photographers. we have admired her work for a long time and the images she has taken for this book look stunning. we have only glimpsed a few shots that ditte has on her website but it's enough for us to want this book. so, it's on our xmas list and if we get it, maybe we'll be trying our hand at nordic cuisine over the holidays. some of the recipes sound very intriguing.

plenty

hope you had a nice weekend. it was a 3 day one for us because of the may day bank holiday so we got some extra work done in our vegetable garden. we have been trying to get as much done as possible on the weekends and in the evenings because this is the time of year where we start to get really busy with summer shows, exhibitions and open studios and so gardening has to wait. we'll tell you what events we have coming up very soon and keep an eye on our events & news page too.

in the meantime, we thought we'd tell you about this lovely cookbook we bought the other day - Plenty by Yotam Ottolenghi. we haven't stopped looking at it all week and can't decide what we want to cook from it first. the cover got us instantly - beautiful simple graphics on white by two associates. Yotam has put together a collection of 120 vegetarian recipes for his book with beautiful photography by Jonathan Lovekin. we took a few pictures of our copy to show you.

watercress, pistachio & orange blossom salad (image 2)
coconut rice with sambal & okra
bittersweet salad (image 4)
black pepper tofu
hot yoghurt & broad bean soup (image 6)
cucumber salad with smashed garlic & ginger

Yotam writes the new vegetarian column in the guardian newspaper which you can view online - there are some stunning recipes there, this one sounds especially nice.

a favourite book of ours is home is where the heart is by ilse crawford - a beautiful book that explores the philosophy of putting the human element back into our homes, rather than just focusing on the aesthetics. In a series of essays (survival, protection, love, respect, self & details) Ilse looks at how we can improve our lives, our homes and our day to day activities.

we thought we would share a couple of paragraphs from the book with you that instantly rung true to us - about how we feel about consumerism and why we design the way we do and use the materials that we do.
